Addressing the risk of climate change has been integral to the IS rating tool from the very start, in fact it was the first category developed along with an industry guideline.

Michael Nolan (AECOM) was the peer reviewer for development of this category. Not long after development of this category, ISCA was asked to participate on a committee to develop an Australian Standard on this subject so nominated Michael to represent us.

ISCA welcomes the release of this new Australian Standard AS 5334 Climate Change Adaptation for Settlements and Infrastructure, congratulates the committee on its work and recognises the benefits this will bring to the infrastructure industry. Michael talks about his work on the committee and his other recent work on climate change adaptation further in this article. It is also timely that ISCA has partnered with the Department of Industry, Innovation, Climate Change, Science, Research and Tertiary Education (DIICCSRTE) to undertake a project to review the Climate Change Adaptation Category in the IS rating tool (see separate story).
