GECA seeks feedback for new standards

Good Environmental Choice Australia (GECA) is a recognised environmental labelling body under the Mat-2 credit (Materials Category) within the IS rating scheme.

GECA "runs Australia's only independent, not-for-profit, multi-sector ecolabelling program and is the only Australian member of the Global Ecolabelling Network (GEN)".

On the 10th March, GECA released a request on their website calling for feedback from developers, manufactuers and infrastructure project teams to suggest additional standards it should develop to help projects earn points under the ISCA IS rating scheme.

Current examples of GECA standards that could contribute to points under the IS rating tool include:

  • Panel boards (examples: BGC panel boards, Boral plasterboard, CSR Gyprock products)
  • Floor coverings (examples: JustMats RolaDek aluminium matting system, Regupol Everroll recycled rubber flooring)
  • Furtniture, fittings and foam (examples: Madinoz door handles, Studform aluminium partitioning systems and doors, Hufcor and Kyissa toilet cubicles and partitioning)
  • Paints and coatings (examples: Ecolour paints, Rockcote Enterprises exterior architectural paints)
  • Thermal building insulation materials (examples: Fletcher insulation, Siam fibreglass)
  • Environmentally innovative products (examples: CSR aerated concrete blocks, floor and walls, Termicide Pest Control recycled glass termite barrier)
