IS Rating Registrations

2013-12-16 11:41:00

Interest in IS ratings continues to build and this is translating into further registrations. We now have eleven registered ratings on top of the two which have been certified to date.

Recent registrations include:

  • North West Rail Link – Early Works (NSW)
  • Wynyard Walk (NSW)
  • North West Rail Link – Tunnel and Station Civils (NSW)
  • CBD and SE Light Rail (NSW)
  • Elizabeth Quay (NSW)

The total capital value of registered ratings exceeds $13 billion. We have a further thirty potential IS project ratings that are currently in the process of registering or in discussions with us. The wide range of infrastructure types that are registering is also pleasing, alongside transport and water infrastructure, we are also likely to kick-off ratings for energy distribution, telecommunications and possibly even a renewable energy project.

Just as exciting, is that we have been requested to commence a pilot rating in New Zealand early in 2014. Stay tuned for more on this.

Tool development

While application of the IS rating tool version 1.0 is well underway, we are also undertaking various tool development activities and planning to update the tool to the next version as soon as 2015.

Urban and Landscape Design – review of this category by our PhD intern who starts with us in January 2014.

Operation Pilots – Further piloting of the operation rating building on our recent pilots with IPWEA and local councils which were immensely useful in shaping our approach to operation of assets.

Guideline for use of the IS rating tool in Project and Business Case Development; and Project Procurement – currently underway in conjunction with several projects that have registered early.

Piloting of a NZ version of the IS rating tool – with NZ industry commencing in February 2014.

Workforce Theme – A scoping study for a new ‘Workforce’ theme for the tool is being sponsored by Thiess and was recently kicked off.
